Goulburn Protest Gets Message Across to Premier

22 August 2014, a bit of a gloomy sky in Goulburn NSW.  For the Residents against Jupiter wind turbines (RAJwt), however, it was excitement and trepidation: the day of our protest at the Liberal Party fundraiser at the Southern Star Inn.  Most importantly, NSW Premier Mike Baird and Minister for Planning Pru Goward, would be in attendance.

Gathering early outside on both sides of the road, were 50+ residents from both existing and proposed wind turbine farms.  People wore t-shirts bearing different slogans:

Petition to Stop the Construction of Wind Farms in Unsuitable Locations

Windfarm group demands action: Goulburn Post Article

Extract of Goulburn Post article by Louise Thrower

OPPONENTS of a proposed wind farm near Tarago are calling on the state government to ‘do its job.’ Community consultative committees (CCCs) are mandatory under guidelines but are nothing more than a ‘fig leaf,’ says a residents’ group.

The Residents Against Jupiter Wind Farm (RAJWF) has not ruled out political action to press their point.

Last month the group met with a senior advisor to Planning Minister and Goulburn MP Pru Goward and a departmental official in Sydney.
